Tecno Y4 - Specifications, Features and Price

Features/Review:

At that mega low price, it's no surprise that the Tecno Y4 has a less impressive spec than the Y5. However, you might be surprised at just the kind of spec you get for your money.

With Tecno's current development on giving users the latest Operating System, The Tecno Y4 have about 90 percent adoption for one of the newer versions of Android so it's no surprise that the Tecno Y4 Smartphone comes pre-loaded with 4.4 KitKat

It's got a smaller screen than the Y5 Model at 4.0in compared to 5.0 and a lower resolution too. But the qHD (480x800) on a phone this cheap is a rather impressive feature and means a pixel density of 223ppi.

Under a MediaTek MT6577 chipset, Dual Core 1.0GHz & Power VR SGX531u together with Its 1GB of RAM kept applications flowing smoothly and also good for HD Gaming, though you get only 8GB of internal storage to play with the phone's microSD slot is compatible with up to 32GB expansion cards.

There is only a 1.3MP front facing camera but at the rear is a 5Mp which is the same resolution as the Tecno Y5 and a LED flash. The Tecno Y4 takes reasonable photos and videos but only in good conditions and even then, they're nothing special.

The Tecno Y4 has (1800mAh) battery which is only marginally smaller in capacity to the Y5.

There's little else to talk about in terms of hardware because, unsurprisingly, the Tecno Y4 is a fairly basic smartphone. It has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (4.0 Low Energy) and GPS but nothing fancier. The device is limited to 3G mobile networks so if you want 4G on a budget, take a look elsewhere.

Price:

With the features of this smartphone, I know you will be surprised at the price it is tagged at. Unbelievably looking at the price on most of the big shopping market in NIgeria and Africa, the smartphone is priced in a range of N13,000 and N15,500. Its damn cheap I guess!

Our Verdict:

Tecno has set a new benchmark for the budget smartphone with the Tecno Y5 but has gone even lower on price with the Y4. Although we're impressed with the Tecno Y4 which will make a great first or spare smartphone, it's worth paying the extra for the Y5 which is not far priced in comparison to the Y4 Model. Y5 is only priced between N15,000 and N17,500.
