What kinds of posts will I see in News Feed on Facebook?

Posts that you see in your News Feed are meant to keep you connected to the people, places and things that you care about, starting with your friends and family. Posts that you see first are influenced by your connections and activity on Facebook.  The number of comments, likes and reactions a post receives and what kind of story it is (example: photo, video, status update) can also make it more likely to appear higher up in your News Feed. Posts that you might see first include: A friend or family member commenting on or liking another friend's photo or status update. A person reacting to a post from a publisher that a friend has shared. Multiple people replying to each other’s comments on a video they watched or an article they read in News Feed. Keep in mind that if you feel you're missing posts you'd like to see, or seeing posts in your News Feed that you don't want to see, you can adjust your settings.

Facebook Interface: News Feed, Ticker, Wall, Profile, Timeline

What trips up people new to social networking tends to be the Facebook interface; it can be hard to understand when you first join because it's not immediately apparent what determines the material you see on your homepage or profile page--or even how to find those pages. News Feed Appears on Your Homepage When each user signs in, they are shown a homepage containing a personalized stream of information that Facebook calls the "news feed" or "stream;" it's full of information posted by their friends. Managing your News Feed on Facebook

While Facebook doesn't allow you to customize what stories you'll see first in your News Feed, it does offer some tools to help control what posts and updates can appear in it. Unfollowing and unfriending If you ever decide that you'd like to stop seeing updates from certain friends, you can unfollow their posts. To unfollow a friend's posts, locate and select the drop-down arrow on a post, then select Unfollow . Alternatively, if you no longer want to be friends with someone on Facebook, you can go to that friend's Timeline and select Friends Unfriend . This means you will no longer receive any updates from this person. It also means this person will no longer be able to see any of your nonpublic information. Likes and your News Feed Whenever you like something on Facebook, you're also subscribing to a Facebook page . This means updates and advertisements from anyone or anything you've liked—including businesses, celebrities, ...
